Use Cases
AUTOMATIC TEST CASE GENERATION FOR SOP APPROVAL OF AN INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM
8,823 test cases generated automatically
Benefits
+ | Much quicker test preparation and performance |
+ | Low-cost error analysis |
+ | Comprehensive test coverage through a full comparison rather than exploratory testing |
+ | localion Q can be reused for each test cycle to save costs |
Starting point
An infotainment system must offer an optimised user experience, especially when it comes to navigation. Navigation map updates include numerous changes in content, as well as on a format and data model level. This can have the effect that requirements are not met and performance is affected. So extensive cost-intensive testing, both automated and manual, is conducted before SOP approval. The aim is to generate low-cost test cases which address the risk of malfunction as fully as possible, thereby strongly and sustainably supporting the entire testing process.
Solution
Europe-wide automated test cases are generated with localion Q.
First, a full reconciliation of the map update with pre-release is carried out with localion Q. The potentially critical changes must then be determined. The customer benefits from the all-round expertise of the specialist LOGIBALL team.
The critical test cases are extracted and categorised using special metrics. Automated test cases are then generated from these. These also cover automated generation of the desired result and maximum tolerances.
Service package
The customer was provided with a database of 8,823 test cases and the desired result. The customer was also given access to a specially hosted localion Q backend, through which all test team members can easily gain access via a web application. The test case database was further processed by an automated test system.
If errors arise, the test case can be quickly analysed through localion Q, and results communicated to Development.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS THROUGH CONTENT COMPARISONS
All the information you need at the click of a mouse
Benefits
+ | Targeted, rapid overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the in-house product in comparison to the competition |
+ | Global to local information – content organised via localion Q channel structure |
+ | Company-wide and intuitively comprehensible information |
+ | Automated, cyclical update function |
+ | Straightforward expansion of analysis functions, e.g. time series development |
Starting point
The customer wants to identify the strengths and weaknesses of its navigation databases compared with the OSM, for product marketing and sales, but also for strategy development and product enhancement. This is a particularly tough challenge when it comes to digital maps, as there are hundreds of object types. Several hundred attributes are assigned in turn to some of these types.
Statistics and tables with competitor analyses are mostly either high-volume or very raw, but always less informative.
This is exacerbated by the fact that the providers often define the respective regions or content very differently, and so the comparison quickly becomes a matter of apples and pears.
Solution
An internationally standardised region structure and administrative structure were first created. The location data was tailored to these structures. The necessary data analyses were carried out based on defined mapping criteria.
Objects were counted with genuine 1:1 object matching or region counts.
The analysis results were then prepared in the localion Q channels using defined visualisation criteria, and integrated into the localion Q web app.
Service package
The localion Q backend was tailored to the customer and populated with all data and analysis results.
The customer gains access to the localion Q web app via secure access.
QUALITY GATE FOR EVALUATION OF ROAD AND TRAFFIC DATA AT BMW
LOGIBALL delivers a technology stack
Benefits
+ | Relevant data and data to be reviewed are filtered (qualified according to region, attribution) |
+ | Processing of map release data and dynamic traffic data |
+ | Fast import of large data volumes (e.g. European road network) |
+ | Prepared metrics for determining data quality |
+ | Automated verification and creation of outcome reports |
+ | Creation of new metrics is supported through access to prepared templates |
+ | Data can be analysed according to definable time windows |
Starting point
The options for accessing current navigation and traffic data – as well as the need to do so – are constantly on the increase. The periods for evaluating the quality of release and update data and early detection of critical data statuses (structural data errors) are becoming shorter.
Due to the volume, complexity and diversity of traffic scenarios, a random check often will not suffice.
Location data is of increasing importance to the perceived quality of the brand and product, as autonomous driving moves to the next level. It was therefore necessary to develop a suitable backend.
Solution
Localion Q provides a full set of metrics with which the data quality can be quickly and precisely assessed. Visualisation in the map, status indicators, and reports are excellent tools which help decision-makers take fast, appropriate action in terms of use of data, in order that they can then grant final approval.
Service package
The client was equipped with a localion Q technology stack. We expanded the system with corresponding additional development services. In order to efficiently support test drives, a mobile component was developed.
FAQ
Drawing on 20 years of experience and a solid vision, our data analytics team has developed a universal data model (UDM). This data model is suited to almost any quality assurance task within localion Q. Dynamic data sources can of course be fed into this UDM too.
Location data is complex, which is why sales and marketing tools must be straightforward – exactly as localion Q is. The channel concept with its visualisation templates makes it simple to grasp the information shown.
The customer can be easily won over; the product manager can quickly persuade the directors to choose a supplier.
As soon as digitisation involves location changes, a component must be added to monitor quality. This requirement is all the more complex if transport needs to be switched over to autonomous processes. localion Q meets this very need.
